What is Molemapping?

Our melanographers carefully scan the body using hand held  dermoscopy, that illuminates vascular and sub –surface areas of pigmentation that can not been seen with the naked eye.  Using the MOLE MAX system, microscopic images of all lesions that present a risk, are taken and stored. Throughout the mapping process digital body images are also taken to ensure a full baseline of existing lesions is recorded. This allows our doctors and melanographers to detect any new lesions that may develop throughout the year and following the initial consultation. Many melanomas will develop from new moles, not from moles that have previously been diagnosed; therefore follow-up mole mapping and an automatic patient recall system is an important part of the service we provide at Peninsula skin.
